OfficeSpace.jpg (29342 bytes) There is no question about it.  More people than ever before are using computers.  To reduce glare, the parabolic fixture is highly recommended, but not necessarily required.   Light levels should be between 35 and 50 foot-candles, depending on task and the amount of task light available.  Be sure to use IES recommendations.  Reflector technology as advanced far enough that many fixtures can be delamped and retrofited with reflectors to achieve a respectable light level. 
The 2X4 troffer fitted with an acrylic lens is perhaps the most widely used since it provides a considerable cost savings over louvered fixtures.  Another alternative to the 3" deep parabolic is the egg crate lens.  This lenses come in a wide variety of cell sizes and may be finished in white or silver.
